Yes, She Has PMS (Presidentially Motivated Syndrome)

Written by on 16 April 2015

Yes, she’s in and she has PMS, or Presidentially Motivated Syndrome. After months of speculation, Hillary Clinton finally formally announced her candidacy to take another run at the White House in 2016. She came in 3rd among Democrat nominees in her first run in 2008 and subsequently Barack Obama won that election.

Back then, many voters felt a disconnect from her. She didn’t seem like one of them, a little out of touch, too removed from a more youthful voter base. This time, she has pledged a road trip to get to know the people and become the people’s champion. She wants to be that everyday champion for everyday Americans.

It goes without saying that with a Hillary running, it brings up the question of gender and are we truly ready for a female president. This is analogous to when Barack ran and if we were ready for a black president. In both situations, the answer seems to be kind of, maybe, sort of.

While some people whole-heartedly embrace the idea of a female commander-in-chief, others are a little hesitant while others are downright hostile to the idea. Some feels that it goes against everything that the presidency stands for that somehow a woman isn’t as well equipped to handle the position of leader of the free world.

What do you think? Is it time for a woman to win the presidency? Will America embrace it? What are the downsides of a woman president? How bad could it really be?
