July is Minority Mental Health Month
Written by Afterparty South on 2 July 2018
Welcome to July! In addition to the hot weather, barbecues, pool parties, Sand vacations, July is an important commemorative month. July is also known as Minority Mental Health Month, which is often overlooked, ignored and more consequentially, misunderstood. There is still such a stigma around mental health that many people, especially in the minority community, often feel isolated where they can’t acknowledge that they have a problem, let alone seek help. It’s time that we make all of our brothers and sisters feel validated and empower them to speak up and seek help before the consequences are tragic, up to and including suicide. There are many resources available regardless of where you live, income level and more. One of most trusted and comprehensive is Mental Health America. Visit their site and learn more about them today or give them a call at 1-800-969-6642.
