Hasselbeck Says Black Lives Matter Hate Group, but It’s Really Fox News

According to former “The View” co-host and current Fox News right-wing fear-monger commentator, Elisabeth Hasselbeck, she posed the question why black lives matter isn’t considered a hate group. She is referring specifically to the reprehensible shooting of a white officer by a black man in Houston last week.
While this was a tragic incident and no one is condoning violence against an officer, citizen or anyone else, Hasselbeck is missing the whole point of the movement just like a whole host of ill-informed folks who pretend to be blind the shortcomings of this country.
Black Lives Matter is not a movement aimed at saying, “oh, black lives matter so much more than any other group” or “only black lives matter at the expense of others.” No, sadly, the movement had to start because we’ve witnessed a rash of too many high profile killings of unarmed black folks that made us say, “Hey, black lives matter, too. Our lives have value like anybody else. We can’t continue to be devalued and treated like sub-humans. We just want to be on an equal playing field where we’re not shot down simply because of the color of our skin.”
Saying Black Lives Matter isn’t meant to diminish anybody else’s existence. Of course, all lives matter but unfortunately in this country, black people aren’t always seen as people with lives deemed of value. Until we can see that black folks are folks just like white folks, cop folks, rich folks or any other group that is seen as valued, then we are going to have to continue on with Black Lives Matter.
And sorry, Elisabeth Hasselbeck, Black Lives Matter wouldn’t be considered a hate group because the movement doesn’t “advocate and practice hatred, hostility, or violence towards members of a race, ethnicity, nation, religion, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation or any other designated sector of society.” In fact, that sounds more like Fox News. Maybe your Fox needs to be classified as the real hate group.
