Damon Wayans’ Cosby Remarks – Hated It!

Written by on 8 September 2015

Damon, Damon, Damon, why did you have to jump into the Bill Cosby debacle of did he/didn’t he? How many celebrities have come out in support of Cosby only to be butchered by the public, made to apologize and made to look like straight up fools once new evidence came to light?

Well, obviously Damon Wayans doesn’t scare that easy because he threw his hat in the ring to defend the honor of one Mr. Bill Cosby. In his remarks to “The Breakfast Club,” he relied on a common tactic when it comes to rape allegations – blame the victim. And while attacking the credibility of the accusers, he said it was a money thing and called some of the women “unrapeable.” In the midst of it all, he had some words of wisdom for Cosby.

Wayans said: “Tell the truth. If I was him, I would divorce my wife, give her all my money and then I would go do a deposition. I would light one of [those] three-hour cigars. I’d have some wine and maybe a Quaalude, and I would just go off, because I don’t believe that he was raping. I believe he was in relationships with all of them, and then he’s like, ‘You know what? It’s 78. It don’t work like that no more. I can’t get it up for any of y’all. Bye, bitches,’ and then they’re like, ‘Oh, really? Rape!'”

He added: “If you listen to them talk, they go, ‘Well, the first time…’ The first time? Bitch, how many times did it happen? Just listen to what they’re saying and some of them really [are] unrapeable. I just look at them and go, ‘You don’t want that. Get out of here.'” Wayans said.

When questioning why it took some women so long to come out with their accusations, Wayans said, “How big is his penis that it gives you amnesia for 40 years?”

Comments like this is why rape, sexual assault and abuse are still stigmatized. You don’t blame the victim, you don’t attack their looks because that’s not what rape is about. Rape is about power, domination and demeaning a victim.

Wayans can have his personal outlook all he wants but at the end of the day, there are depositions of Cosby where he admitted to some of his deviant behavior. Besides, these cases are past the statutes of limitations and the vast majority of these women will never see a penny, so Wayans’ theory is kind of thrown out the window.

he was just trying to be funny and it was all the joke of an aging, used-to-be-relevant guy who needs a little time in the spotlight.

Maybe Wayans should go back to “Men on Film” and give himself two snaps and a shimmy to enlightenment, evolution and a little sensitivity.
