Is Nas Responsible for His Baby Mama Even After their Daughter is 18?

Written by on 14 July 2015

There’s a nasty rumor floating around that Nas’ baby mama, Carmen Bryan, is now homeless and flat-broke since Nas has cut off financial support to her now that their daughter is 18. Dutifully and legally, Nas provided child support payments for his daughter until her 18th birthday. In fact, it’s been said that Nas even provided support beyond his daughter’s 18th, from which Bryan benefitted.

Now, Nas cut off Bryan because he feels as though she’s no longer his responsibility. Their daughter is grown, Bryan is a big girl, so now she’s on her own, right?

Logically speaking, this would be a perfectly normal reaction, but some people see this as cold-hearted and plain, old wrong. Since she bore and raised his child, he owes her, says some Nas detractors. Another argument is since they have a daughter together, they are linked as family and family sticks together.

But honestly, is this is a double standard? Just because she’s a woman and Nas is a man, some people may feel that he is automatically obligated to care and provide for her. What if it was the other way around and Bryan had cut off Nas financially?

Do you think a man should be responsible for his baby mama even after child support is not required? Do you think there is a double standard? What if the roles were reversed?
