Tha Afterparty’s HIV Awareness Drive Served Up Success

Written by on 27 June 2016

From Tha Afterparty Radio, we want to say a huge, heartfelt thank you to everyone who came out to and shared via social media and encouraged others to attend Tha Afterparty Radio’s 1st Annual HIV Awareness Drive and made it a rousing success by getting more than 30 people tested. In addition, the event served as an opening to the Flint Water Drive. The HIV Awareness Drive was created by Tha Bad Girls of i-Radio as a way to reach out to the community to bring awareness of the devastating effect that unknown HIV statuses have on the community, especially the black community. By providing free, rapid HIV testing, anybody in the community could come out to find out their status to protect themselves, their partner and their community as a whole.

The event was fun for all with a live broadcast, exciting vendors, activities for the kids, giveaways and more. As the event that was the launching pad for the Water Drive for Flint, community members began leaving donations so Tha Afterparty can collect monetary donations from now through the month of July. All proceeds will go to ship a pallet of water to the residents of Flint, who are in desperate need of water during their water crisis. Donations can be made via the GoFundMe page at https://www.gofundme.com/ThaAfterparty. Help us #FillForFlint.

Once again, thank you for making the 1st Annual HIV Awareness Drive a success and thank you for donating to the #FillForFlint Water Drive. For more photos, check out: Link to photos.
