According to the BBC News station in 2014, there has been a longstanding debate about the underlying effects of whooping your child and the connection the act has with child abuse. The debate began because of the NFL Adrian Peterson’s child abuse scandal which he describes as his adoptive mother disciplining him by stripping him of his clothes and hitting him with a belt, switches, hangars, etc; which is customary in the African-American community. However, is the action of whooping your child considered child abuse or is it just a form of discipline?
