Real Talk: Is There Such a Thing as a Perfect Relationship?

Written by on 20 May 2016

Should anybody even expect such a thing as a perfect relationship, or is this a mere fairy tale concoction? Let’s just say that two people are perfect for each other; they’re soulmates. They have shared interests, goals, personalities, sense of humor and values, does it necessarily mean that they can expect their relationship to be perfect? Probably not.

Just like anything else in life, perfection is basically unattainable; there’s always going to be some bumps in the road. Regardless of this truth, people will give up on decent or even good relationships to chase that unicorn of a perfect relationship. These are the people that believe there should never be any fighting, arguing or disagreements. The people who believe a couple should always be “one.” And when something goes awry in their pursuit of perfection, it’s time to dump the relationship since it wasn’t perfect.

Is this an unreasonable way to think? Would a lot more people be happier if they realize that there’s no such thing as a perfect relationship and focus on a workable relationship where things can be good not perfect? Would that change the whole dating scene/divorce rate if people had more realistic expectations. Chime in and #TellUsHowYouReallyFeel.
