‘White Savior’ Trump Proves He’s Not Racist by Stepping into A$AP Rocky Case

Trump is no stranger to accusations of racism, which got progressively louder this week after his brutal verbal attack on four female lawmakers of color where he told them to “go back” to their countries. To perhaps do a bit of damage control and prove he’s not some kind of heartless bigot, Trump announced that he and Melania would negotiate with Swedish authorities to get A$AP Rocky released from the Swedish jail where he’s been locked up for the past three weeks. Fans, celebrities and observers alike have seen the video that showed the events leading up the rapper’s arrest and said that Rocky is innocent and should be released immediately. There have also been reports that the rapper is being treated humanely and his jail conditions are “horrific.”
While Trump has been silent the past few weeks about an American that is possibly unjustly incarcerated in a foreign country, in a White House appearance today in front of all the cameras, he said “many, many members of the African-American have called me” to encourage him to help Rocky. Cue Trump’s black BFF Kanye West who talked with Trump about Rocky’s release.
Trump also felt it important to stress “African-American” a few times to somehow prove the neither he nor America is racist but inclusive by saying: “I personally don’t know A$AP Rocky, but I can tell you that he has tremendous support from the African American community in this country. And when I say African American, I think I can really say from everybody in this country, because we’re all one. I have been called by so many people asking me to help A$AP Rocky, actually the one who knew about A$AP Rocky was our first lady.”
Seems a little unnecessary and awkward when talking about international diplomacy, but isn’t that what we’ve come to expect from Trump?
