Sunday Inspiration: From Confederate Training Ground to Tyler Perry Studios

Written by on 6 October 2019

For today’s Sunday inspiration, there’s no better place to look than Tyler Perry himself. On Saturday, the director, actor, humanitarian, visionary officially opened his new movie studios in Atlanta. Not only “is it the only major film studio in the nation owned by an African American,” but it was once actually the site of a Confederate training ground.

Just think about the enormity of taking land that once trained Confederate soldiers and seeing it repurposed into a space that celebrates nothing but black excellence. You take that nugget along with the fact that Perry speaks openly about and appreciates his humble beginnings. He was penniless and homeless just about 20 years ago but has now grown into the juggernaut he is today.

It goes to show you how dreaming, resilience and hard work can take you to places you probably never even thought imaginable. And, that’s why Tyler Perry is this Sunday’s inspiration. Get inspired and have a great week!
